Some reviewers commented that the dehydrator itself is very simple to use.  Simply stack the food you want to dry on the trays, hit the switch and watch it spin for 30 minutes although the spinning is optional. It gets up to its operating temperature quickly and is relatively quiet when running.

According to some reviewers, the drying times listed in the manual are far from accurate and it mostly takes triple the time listed in the book to dehydrate food. It takes 18 to 19 hours to dry thin slices of apple when the dehydrator book says only 6 to 8 hours. Additionally, the unit gets warm but it doesn’t get hot.

Others said if this dehydrator has to run non-stop, it still works flawlessly. It’s easy to keep clean and does a nice job. It dehydrates food even faster than users had imagined. The big trays for dehydrating large amounts of foods at once save valuable time from repetitive preparing, dehydrating, and cleaning of utensils. It also provides option of creating vent space between stacked trays, or not having vent space. It has a blower and moving plastic parts so it’s not completely silent, but it’s quieter than other dehydrators that it can’t be heard running in the next room.

The first noticeable thing with Aroma AFD-615 5-Tier Rotating Food Dehydrator is that it’s quite heavy and it feels very sturdy. It’s definitely not like a cheap imitation although its low price may put you off. Generally, it’s well-built except that the trays are a bit weak so extra care must be taken not to drop or step on them because they can easily shatter. For those who want to dehydrate food at very large quantities and want drying to be a lot quicker, a larger dehydrator would be nicer.  This dehydrator is not an extremely high-quality product but its overall construction makes it look like a 150-dollar dehydrator at the store, and not $37.
