Our extensive research on Ronco FD1005WHGEN Food Dehydrator showed mixed reviews. The reviewers who were pleased with this dehydrator stated that it works exactly as stated, or maybe even better. It’s super easy to use and super quiet too. The fruits dried in it can last months and is great to take on long trips or for snacks. It’s inexpensive and dries about 5 pounds of fruit at once per session.  This new model is almost exactly the same as the previous one, with color as the only difference and it works great. It cleans up easily in the dishwasher.

According to some unsatisfied users, its construction is subpar, and the fact that it’s a passive dehydrator means it requires an extraordinary amount of time to process the foods to be dried. It also requires rotation of the trays which is not nice. Fruit on the bottom tray will be brittle by the time fruit on the top trays are ready, and it takes a long time to dry anything.

Being able to see inside this dehydrator impressed the reviewers as it helps them to know when drying is done and it’s fun to watch as well. It’s much cheaper than other dehydrators yet it does the same job. It does take longer than large dehydrators to dry but it dries the same.
